Answers with a reference: how to check statements on the VOB/B and BGB

An answer about a provision is only as good as its source. These steps help you check statements – whether they come from an AI or from the internet.

Which set of rules applies?

Construction contracts first follow the BGB (law of contracts for work). The VOB/B applies only if it has been agreed in the contract. Depending on the topic, there are also the state building codes, occupational safety rules such as those of the DGUV, and other regulations.

Check the reference

  • Have the provision and paragraph named, for example § 12 Abs. 5 VOB/B.
  • Read the wording, not just the summary.
  • Pay attention to the version and the date of the text.

BauWalker searches the VOB/B and the BGB and checks your documents. The result separates what is confirmed from assumptions and says which document is still missing.

For every answer BauWalker shows the sources – and the wording of the provision, with an explanation in plain words if you like.

When the basis is missing

BauWalker does not invent an answer: if a reliable basis is missing, the system names the missing document and suggests uploading it. For legal questions in an individual case, advice from a professional remains necessary.
