Knowledge
How does a Nachtrag work in a construction contract?
A Nachtrag is a change or addition to the contract: services that were not part of the original scope, or changed conditions of their execution.
Process
First the original contract scope is recorded, then what changed and on whose instruction, after which the justification and calculation are prepared.
- original scope of services under the contract
- description of the change and its reason
- instruction from the client or circumstance that triggered the change
- calculation of costs and deadlines
- written agreement before work begins, where possible
The biggest risk
The services have been carried out, and the justification is prepared only later and without documents. Then a dispute is almost inevitable.
How it works in BauWalker
BauWalker reconciles the contract with the change and creates a draft of the Nachtrag justification, citing the contract points.
